June 2011

June was a crazy mix of dance rehearsals, dance recitals, swim team for the twins, water polo and summer school for Hunter and everything that goes with summer time in Arizona.  The girls had swim team at 7:00 in the morning, so we were up early just about every day.  Hunter took a driver's ed course in summer school in preparation for getting his learner's permit to drive.   We had swim meets and water polo matches to attend, along with dance classes to teach (for me) and preparations for our recital on the 18th.

Brian had surgery on the 20th to remove his spleen.  It was supposed to be an easy laproscopic surgery, but his spleen was so enlarged (to the size of a football) they ended up having to cut him open.  His recovery was tough - he was in a lot of pain.  I ended up staying out in Goodyear with him for a couple of days and my mom came and stayed with the kids at the house.  One really cool thing about the CTCA is that they have rooms for the patient's family to stay in if they don't want to leave.  I didn't want to drive that hour home at night and drive it back in the morning so I just booked a room there.  They are really nice - just like a hotel room.  And not too far down the hall from where Brian was recovering.

The twins also had two weeks of their "dance camp" at our house.  They were able to earn all of their money needed for the Tremain Convention they attended in July.  They did a great job and we are looking forward to doing it again next summer!
