Chloe & Lauryn on the first day of school
August was back to school month for our kids! Hunter is a Junior, Sommer and Sydney are Freshman - all at Desert Ridge High School. Chole is in 5th grade and Lauryn is in 3rd at Augusta Ranch Elementary. Hunter is in the orchestra again this year playing bass. Sommer and Sydney decided to take a dance class (which neither of them really enjoy) as an elective. Sydney sings in the choir and is learning American Sign Language. Sommer took photography as an elective. Chloe also started playing the bass in orchestra and is doing lunch time sports.
Brian ended up spending most of August in the hospital. He was admitted for shingles, meningitis and tested for about 100 other ailments. It ends up he just has cancer. All of these other things are secondary to that. We realized how serious his cancer is. I started a Caring Bridge page for him to keep everyone updated on his condition. It's been great because now his family pretty much knows whenever there is something going on with him. I don't have to text or call everyone - just update the journal page and everyone gets notified. It's been great and I'm thankful that something like that is available for our use.
Brian and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on the 17th - in the hospital. The nurses got us a sweet gift and we decided that when he got feeling better we would take a trip. Heck, we were just happy to have another wedding anniversary! Wow - can't believe it's been 20 years!!
